The Summer of ‘23 - Issue 366

This past Wednesday marked the beginning of a much anticipated summer! This week kicks off the official start of vacations and cottage season - so what are your plans for this summer?

While many people flock to popular destinations like Sauble Beach and the Muskokas for those hot, summer days, here are some local hot spots that you should check out this summer:

Looking for a cottage getaway that isn’t going to be a 2+ hour drive away from home? Try Belwood Lake! Belwood Lake is a great place for swimming, fishing, canoeing, boating, or just relaxing on the water. Whether camping or cottaging, Belwood Lake offers beautiful views & the opportunity for plenty of outdoor activities.

Being so close to Guelph, Kitchener, Fergus, Elora, and even Hamilton and Burlington, Belwood Lake definitely offers much more potential to people who want to enjoy a cottage vacation closer to home. Belwood Lake truly is a hidden gem just waiting to be explored!

With around 335 cottages on the lake, Belwood is also a fantastic place to invest in a vacation property that is only a short drive from home! Our agents have had plenty of experience working in these local areas, so if you are interested in looking at investment opportunities, reach out to one of our agents!

If staying in the great outdoors is not your thing, try looking around for Air bnb’s! Staying in a local Air bnb gives you the luxury of leaving behind your own home & staying somewhere new, while still staying relatively close to home.

Elora, for example, is a charming local town with lots to explore - from the shops downtown, to the local restaurants, to the Elora Gorge! This is a great way to support a more local economy while still taking a well deserved vacation from your everyday schedule. Consider staying in an Air bnb in a local town like Elora this summer for a low-key vacation that will be more relaxing than having to drive hours to get to your destination.

Even if you’re planning to have a more lowkey summer and not leave your hometown, there is still plenty going on locally!

The Guelph Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday morning, and is a great spot to buy fresh produce, local goodies, and handmade products. The market is also a great way to learn about local vendors & services that you may use in the future!

Guelph Ribfest is also taking place in August at Riverside Park - the perfect opportunity to get out in your community and enjoy some fantastic food! Ribfest is generously run by volunteers, and they are always looking for more! KW HGR has sponsored Ribfest in the past, and it’s a great event where the proceeds are given back to local organizations. Safe to say, this might be the most delicious way to support local this summer!

No matter what you like to do, there are plenty of opportunities this summer to get out and get involved with our communities. If you see us out in the community, don’t hesitate to say hello!

So what are you going to do this summer?

Thanks for reading & have a great weekend,
